Two of Redcom Laboratories Inc.’s top executives—Klaus and Brigitte Gueldenpfennig—are to receive the 2014 NRS Award tonight at the Nathaniel Rochester Society of the Rochester Institute of Technology’s annual summer gala.

The award honors individuals who have helped advance the university. The pair, both RIT alumni, have been active with the university, each serving on a variety of committees and supporting the university financially. The couple’s telecom company employs 67 RIT alumni.

Redcom Laboratories ranked 38th on the Rochester Business Journal’s most recent list of private companies with 165 employees.

Klaus Gueldenpfennig has been an RIT trustee emeritus since 2006. He became a trustee in 1992. Brigitte Gueldenpfennig has been involved with the Saunders College of Business. Since the early 1980s she has been a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council.

“From our student days to our alumni years, Brigitte and I feel privileged to have associated with many wonderful people at RIT,” said Klaus Gueldenpfennig, chairman and CEO, in a statement. “It is important for us to be part of an organization like NRS that connects the university with the greater community.”

The NRS Award was established in 1972. The Gosnell family, Thomas Golisano, Philip Saunders and Thomas and Ebets Judson are past recipients.

“We are so very honored to be recognized with the NRS Award,” said Brigitte Gueldenpfennig, who recently retired as vice president of finance at Redcom but remains secretary and treasurer. “We’re proud to be alumni, proud to be part of the RIT family.”

At Thursday’s gala RIT plans to dedicate a new NRS Honor Wall, which recognizes the more than 970 members of the society.
