DOT to auction acreage in Pittsford

Five acres adjacent to the Park & Ride lot at Route 31F and Interstate 490 in Pittsford is scheduled for auction next month, officials with the state Department of Transportation announced this week.

The 5.1-acre parcel has been deemed excess land as part of the state’s Surplus Property Program. It comes with multiple easements that must be maintained, Department of Transportation officials said Monday.

The parcel was acquired by the state for the original construction of I-490 but is no longer needed for transportation purposes and will be offered for purchase through public auction, officials said.

The minimum bid requirement is $89,250, officials said. Bidders should research the conditions of the parcel and local municipal zoning requirements before making an offer.

More than 100 parking spaces on the parcel will be retained by the state for carpoolers and bus riders, officials said.

The auction is Aug. 21 at 10:30 a.m. in the Department of Transportation regional office at 1530 Jefferson Road in Henrietta. Registration begins at 9:30.
