The summer conference of the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials is underway in Rochester, highlighted by a luncheon featuring Mayor Lovely Warren and a black-tie ball on Friday.

The conference, which began Tuesday and concludes Saturday, was recruited here by Rochester City Council member Adam McFadden, the 2014 president of the NBC LEO. The organization is a unit of the National League of Cities, focusing on African-American interests.

“I am honored to serve NBC LEO as the organization’s president and am proud to welcome this national group to our great city,” McFadden said in a statement released by the city Tuesday afternoon.

Warren is the keynote speaker at the luncheon Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Rochester on East Main Street. She is scheduled to talk about leading with courage in an age of great challenges, and about a leader’s responsibilities to the next generation, city officials said.

The black-tie ball is at 7 p.m. Friday at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

The conference finishes Saturday following a full-day mobile workshop that will extend to Niagara Falls, Ontario, with delegates learning about Rochester and other regional cities.
