Court allows Kodak Alaris to do business with EPM customers

A motion by Eastman Park Micrographics Inc. for a preliminary injunction against Kodak Alaris Inc. has been rejected by a state Supreme Court judge.

Justice Matthew Rosenbaum denied the motion Thursday. A temporary order had prevented Kodak Alaris from doing business with EPM customers in the United States and Canada since July 14.

In the original motion, EPM alleged Kodak Alaris breached its obligations to EPM by improperly soliciting business from EPM’s micrographics service customers and misappropriating EPM’s confidential and proprietary information.

“From the outset, we have vigorously maintained that EPM’s claims are without basis, and the decision handed down by the court confirms this,” said Dolores Kruchten, president of Alaris’ document imaging division, in a company statement released Friday.

EPM was formed in March 2011 upon the purchase of Eastman Kodak Co.’s micrographic business. Kodak Alaris became an independent company in September 2013 when Kodak divested its Document Imaging and Personalized Imaging businesses.
