Rochester Business Journal
August 29, 2014

Gasoline prices in Rochester this week are the lowest since February, and nationwide are the lowest Labor Day weekend prices since 2010, data from GasBuddy, AAA and the U.S. Energy Information Administration show.

Locally, the average price of gas is $3.62 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com. That is down roughly 16 cents a gallon from a month and a year ago. Dating to 2008, the highest recorded average gas in Rochester was $4.25 a gallon in July 2008, while the lowest was $1.77 a gallon in January 2009.

Rochester’s gas prices remain stubbornly higher than the national average of $3.45 per gallon, according to the EIA. Nationally, today’s average gas prices are 25 cents less per gallon than they were at the end of June.

AAA reports that prices statewide fell to $3.70 per gallon today from $3.73 per gallon a week ago and $3.85 per gallon last year at this time.
