Transcat Inc. announced Friday it has acquired Ulrich Metrology Inc., a Montreal-based provider of commercial calibrations.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The move by Transcat expands its offerings in North America, officials said.

“This acquisition extends our reach into the calibration market in Canada, providing a larger customer base specifically in both Montreal and Ottawa,” said Lee Rudow, president and CEO of Transcat, in a statement. “In addition, their experience and capabilities enhance our current operations, which we believe will enable further growth. Ulrich’s technical capabilities, accreditations and quality focus are directly aligned with Transcat’s value proposition.”

Ulrich Metrology has annual revenues of $3.7 million and focuses on servicing the aerospace and defense, industrial manufacturing and life science industries, officials said.

Ulrich Metrology president Ingrid Ulrich and general manager Ronald Barry will remain with Transcat.

“The combination of Ulrich with Transcat provides a significant opportunity to expand our overall scope of service by leveraging Transcat’s market leading positions in Canada and the United States,” Barry said.

Shares of Transcat’s stock (Nasdaq: TRNS) were trading up Friday afternoon to $8.90, from Wednesday’s close of $8.81.

Rochester-based Transcat calibrates, repairs, inspects, distributes and ensures compliance of instrumentation.
