Five receive 2015 Financial Executive of the Year Award

More than 500 people gathered Thursday to honor five recipients and their fellow finalists of the Financial Executive of the Year Award.

The award celebrates these executives’ efforts at their organizations and contributions to the community. The luncheon was held at the Hyatt Regency Rochester.

The following were the award recipients:

•    Mike Guche, chief financial officer of Canfield & Tack Inc., in the small organization category;
•    Mark Williams, vice president of finance at DeCarolis Truck Rental Inc., in the large organization category;
•    Diane Syta, CFO of the Rochester School of the Holy Childhood, in the small non-profits category;
•    Patricia Cunningham, CFO, of CP Rochester & Happiness House, in the large non-profits category; and
•    Keri Curtis, chief accounting officer and senior vice president of Gatehouse Media LLC operating division of New Media Investment Group Inc., in the rising star category.

The other finalists were:

Small organizations
•    Clay Carpenter, CFO and partner, Nichols Construction Team; and
•    Scott Strong, finance and treasury manager, MWI Inc.

Large organizations
•    Monica Savino, CFO, the Bonadio Group; and
•    Sean Socha, CFO, Finger Lakes Technologies Group Inc.

Small non-profits
•    Thomas Combs, vice president of operations and finance, George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film; and
•    Hannelore Stevens, chief financial officer, Alzheimer’s Association, Rochester and Finger Lakes Region.

Large non-profits
•    Tom Ammer, vice president of finance and administration, Villa of Hope; and
•    Amy Vars, vice president of finance and administration, Rochester Area Community Foundation.

Rising Star
•    Tammy Stefani, director of accounting services , Rochester Business Alliance Inc.; and
•    Martijn van Manen, director of finance, EG Industries and CFO EG Gilero.

Mark Davitt, president of Perinton-based Conserve, a dba of Continental Service Group Inc., delivered the keynote address. Davitt was the recipient of the Small Business Council of Rochester’s 2013 Business Person of the Year Award in the large firm category.

The event was presented by Rochester Business Journal and Financial Executives International. FEI members hold top decision making positions at companies in every major industry with 74 chapters in the U.S. and one in Japan.
