New, less-invasive passenger-screening software has been installed at the Greater Rochester International Airport, officials announced Tuesday.

The software was installed in the advanced imaging technology machine at the central security checkpoint, officials said. The upgrade eliminates passenger-specific images, which have raised privacy concerns among travelers.

The Rochester airport was selected by the Transportation Security Administration as the first in New York to have the new software, officials said.

“Monroe County’s collaborative partnership with TSA has allowed, once again, for the Greater Rochester International Airport to debut the latest in passenger screening and safety technologies,” Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks said in a statement.
