New and used car sales last month continued to surpass 2010 sales, the Rochester Automobile Dealers’ Association Inc. reported.

Some 2888 new vehicles were sold in Monroe County in November, down more than 8 percent from 3,150 in October, but up nearly 11 percent from 2,812 a year ago. Used-car sales fell 8 percent from 1,939 in October to 1,781 in November, but were up more than 19 percent from 1,494 in November 2010.

Vehicle sales typically fall from October to November, RADA historical data shows.

Monroe County auto dealers sold 4,669 new and used cars and trucks in November, compared with 5,089 in October and 4,160 a year ago.

Dealers have sold 57,282 vehicles this year, up from 50,442 in the first 11 months of 2010.
