MCC extends lease at Sibley Building

Rochester Business Journal

For at least the time being, Monroe Community College will be staying put downtown.

The college’s board of directors voted Thursday to approve a five-year extension of its lease at the Sibley Building. The agreement, made with Rochwil Associates L.P. and Winn Development, is for five years and $3.35 million each year, with a 5 percent price escalation annually.

Anne Kress, MCC president, said she appreciated the willingness of the partners to work with MCC for a fiscally responsible lease. The college still is moving forward with plans to make its permanent downtown home on the Eastman Kodak Co. property at State Street.

Kress has said this year the college will be working closely with Monroe County lawmakers to make the case for moving the campus there and gaining the necessary approval to move forward.

The lease still needs approval from County Executive Maggie Brooks.
