Maximus Inc. plans to open its Pittsford offices May 15, and to add up 195 jobs to its Rochester-area workforce, officials said Monday.

The Reston, Va.-based provider of health and human services is consolidating offices in Perinton, Victor, Ontario County, and Pennsylvania to its new site at 3750 Monroe Ave.

The company employs some 160 locally, President and General Manager Bruce Caswell said during news conference Monday. It plans to add 165 in the near term and another 30 in the longer term.

That would bring total employment to 325 near-term and as many as 355 after that.

The consolidation plans were unveiled in February when the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency approved $225,648 in sales and mortgage tax breaks for a $4.7 million renovation of the Pittsford site.

Maximus at the time pledged to create 203 new jobs. The benefit to the community was $19.2 million, COMIDA projected.

The company plans to invest nearly $1.7 million over two years in furniture, fixtures and equipment, officials said. The Empire State Development Corp. will provide up to $2 million in Excelsior Job Program tax credits over five years, they said.

“Our new Pittsford location is critical in establishing a regional hub for excellent service delivery on behalf of our government clients,” Caswell said.

Maximus independently reviews disputed Medicare claims and provides appeals for all 50 states, officials said. It is the largest independent reviewer of health care appeals for CMS, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and 44 state regulatory agencies.
