Eastman Kodak Co. plans to lay off 141 more workers, a filing with the state Department of Labor states. That brings the total number of announced layoffs since the company filed bankruptcy to 527.
The company, which filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 19, states in Wednesday’s filing it will lay off 92 workers from its Research Labs, with all but one losing their posts on July 15. Another 29 workers will lose their position at its Canal Ponds facility. Twenty-eight of the employees will be affected on July 15. In addition, the company will lay off nine employees from Eastman Park, eight from Kodak Office and three from Kodak Manitou.
Kodak last month announced it would lay off a total of 167 employees: 100 at Eastman Park, 44 at Kodak Office, 18 at the Research Labs, and five at Kodak Manitou.
In March, it said it would lay off 128 workers: 109 from Kodak office, 11 from Eastman Park and eight from Kodak Manitou. In February, it said it would lay off 91: 70 from Kodak Manitou, 11 from Kodak Office, eight from Eastman Park and two from Research Labs.
Kodak ended 2011 with 5,129 Rochester-area workers.
In its first-quarter filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Kodak reported first-quarter severance costs of some $94 million related to the elimination of some 1,700 positions, including approximately 1,200 manufacturing/service positions, 250 research and development positions and 250 administrative positions. Roughly 1,025 of the positions were in the United States and Canada, and 675 throughout the rest of the world, the company states in the filing.
