EarthLink Inc. has announced plans to hire 50 employees in the Rochester area by the end of 2012.

EarthLink, which has its headquarters in Atlanta, has more than 3,200 employees nationwide, including 445 in Rochester.

Officials said the company already has added 32 employees here since January. The majority of the 50 new positions will be focused on information technology and based at the company’s data center in Pittsford.

“We’re excited to continue contributing to the Rochester economy and building our leadership in managed IT services and communications here in Western New York and across the U.S. to meet the high demand of our business customers in the areas of cloud computing, managed IP and managed security,” said Mae Squier-Dow, president of sales for EarthLink, in a statement.
