Dominoes, Star Wars figures inducted into National Toy Hall of Fame

Star Wars action figures and Dominoes can take their rightful place among the pantheon of toys.

Both were inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame at the Strong, unveiled in a ceremony Thursday morning. The honorees were selected from a field of 12 finalists that included the game Clue, Fisher-Price Corn Popper push toy and little green army men.

Star Wars action figures followed soon after the 1977 release of the Star Wars movie. More than 100 varieties of these action figures were sold from 1978 to 1985, with a resurgence from the mid-1990s to the modern day.

Dominoes and Star Wars figures join the other 51 toys already inducted to the National Toy Hall of Fame.
