Crosman Corp. has named a new vice president of manufacturing.

Lenn Phegley will oversee all manufacturing operations, as well as the company’s environmental, health and safety, manufacturing engineering, design engineering and quality assurance functions, officials said Tuesday. He replaces Dan Schultz, who retired after 39 years with the company. 
 
The privately held Crosman, based in East Bloomfield, Ontario County, designs, manufactures and markets airguns, archery equipment and other products.

Prior to joining Crosman, Phegley served as operations leader for Crane Co., where he was responsible for company operations in Chandler, Ariz.; Redmond, Wash.; and Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Prior to joining Crane, Phegley spent time in the automotive, millwork, defense and electronics industries, where he served as business development manager, operations director and earned his Six Sigma Black Belt certification. 

Phegley holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Yale University and an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Ariz.
 
“Lenn not only brings sophisticated manufacturing expertise to Crosman, but he brings it from a global environment,” said Phil Dolci, Crosman president and CEO, in a statement. “With an impressive track record of managing operations across diverse industries and international regions, Lenn has a strong proficiency in lean manufacturing and possesses tremendous leadership qualities.”

Dolci was named Crosman's chief executive in late July, replacing Kenneth D'Arcy, who had led the company since 2001. The change in leadership was the result of succession planning, company leaders said.

Crosman ranked 23rd on the most recent Rochester Business Journal list of manufacturers.
