Wegmans puts freeze on some prices for winter

Wegmans Food Markets Inc. has announced a price freeze on 53 seasonal products that families buy most during winter months. Officials said the seasonal freeze will remain in effect through April 6.

The list includes a wide range of mostly Wegmans brand products including meat, seafood, produce, dairy and bakery items. A complete list of items will be available at Wegmans.com on Thursday.

“We keep our prices consistently lower every day on the items families buy most,” said Wegmans president Colleen Wegman, in a statement. “We believe that our customers should not be forced to buy what’s on ‘sale’ this week. Instead, they should be able to buy what they want, when they want it.”

Wegman said the company has also extended its free prescriptions, up to a 90-day supply, for Atorvastatin, the generic for Lipitor. The program, which was set to end on April 27, now will run until Aug. 26.
