Caribbean islands award RF Communications $31M contract

Harris Corp.’s Rochester-based RF Communications division has been awarded a $31 million contact for a radio system for the Trinidad and Tobago police service that will allow military, law enforcement agencies and government officials there to communicate on a single system.

The company will replace the existing hybrid public safety communications systems across both Caribbean islands, officials said.

“Trinidad and Tobago is connecting both public safety and Armed Forces first responders through a single technology solution,” said Stephen Marschilok, president of RF Communications’ Public Safety and Professional Communications unit, in a statement.

RF Communications employs some 2,200 workers.
