Verizon, AT&T battle for top ratings in market

Rochester Business Journal
July 9, 2013

The new wireless coverage report from RootMetrics shows Verizon Wireless Inc. and AT&T Inc. continue to go head-to-head for best performance in the Rochester market.

RootMetrics is a Washington state-based company that specializes in wireless coverage mapping and service provider ratings.

In the most recent Rochester market report, Verizon took top honors in data performance, while the company tied AT&T in both call performance and overall combined performance.

All five service providers—Verizon, AT&T, Sprint Nextel Corp., T-Mobile US Inc. and Cricket Communications Inc.—tied for text performance.

The report shows AT&T is gaining ground. In RootMetrics previous report, released in December, Verizon edged AT&T in combined performance, while this time around, the two tied.

All five companies improved in terms of their combined performance scores. However, the order of their rankings remained the same as in December. Verizon and AT&T were tied for first followed by T-Mobile, Sprint and Cricket.
