Empire State Development OKs trio of local grants

A local non-profit, health system and manufacturer are among the recipients of grants approved Thursday by Empire State Development Corp.’s board of directors.

PathStone Corp. was approved to receive a $2 million grant to help the agency operate a revolving loan fund in the nine-county Finger Lakes region designed to address the needs of micro enterprises and small businesses.

Finger Lakes Health Systems Agency was approved to receive a $300,000 grant for a project it completed in June involving the training and deployment of blood pressure advocates. The advocates are similar to community health workers and were in four Rochester medical clinics operated by the University of Rochester’s Community Health Center that serve minority and low-income patients in the five zip-code project area.

DichroTec Thin Films LLC will receive a $250,000 grant that will be used to reimburse a portion of the cost of building renovations, purchase of machinery and equipment, and the purchase of assets of Applied Coatings Group Inc., officials said The Chili-based manufacturer of optical coatings and color filters employs 27 workers.
