Georgia woman charged in Iberdrola security breach

A Georgia resident has been arraigned on charges of intentionally damaging a protected computer domain at Rochester-based Iberdrola USA Inc., officials said Tuesday.

Annette Kendrick, 40, of Marietta, Ga., was arraigned in Rochester before Magistrate Judge Marian Payson after being charged in a criminal complaint, U.S. Attorney William Hochul Jr. said.

The security breach involved Iberdrola’s Internet recruitment site, the company said in April. The site had personal information from as many as 5,100 people.

Kendrick, using the log-in credentials of another individual, allegedly logged into the job application system on April 4, law enforcement agents determined.

Kendrick is accused of having modified a posting and questions on the posting, sending emails to agencies about the posting, and sending emails to applicants saying they were no longer being considered for the position, agents found.

The charges carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both, officials said.

Kendrick is scheduled to appear in court again Sept. 12.
