Vehicle sales continue to top 2012 numbers

New- and used-car sales in Monroe County continue to surpass 2012 sales, the Rochester Automobile Dealers’ Association Inc. reported.

Dealers sold 4,361 new vehicles in July, up nearly 16 percent from 3,764 in July 2012 and more than 10 percent from 3,958 in June. Used-car sales improved to 2,138 last month from 2,011 a year ago, but were flat compared with 2,133 in June.

Auto dealers in Monroe County sold 6,499 new and used vehicles combined last month, compared with 5,775 in July 2012 and 6,091 in June.

Some 40,162 vehicles have been sold here since the beginning of the year, up 4 percent from 38,570 in the same time period last year.
