The future of the video game industry in New York State will be discussed at a state Senate committee meeting at Rochester Institute of Technology on Tuesday.

The Senate Select Committee on Science, Technology, Incubation and Entrepreneurship will hold a fact-finding session to discuss how to grow the industry. The meeting follows up on one held last month at Polytechnic Institute of New York University.

State Sen. Martin Golden, R-Brooklyn, said he chose RIT for the second meeting because of the university’s nationally recognized game design and development programs, as well as its new multidisciplinary Center for Media, Arts, Games, Interaction and Creativity.

A roundtable discussion, “Growing Computer and Video Game Development in New York,” will include comments from interactive entertainment leaders, entrepreneurs and legislators on how to attract and support the $4.9 billion video game industry, organizers said.

The event, which is open to public, will feature remarks from RIT president William Destler.
