Frontier Communications Corp. has been named a Top 100 2014 Military Friendly Employer by Victory Media Inc., publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse.

The telecommunications company ranked 89th. More than 11 percent of the company’s employees are veterans or reservists. A pool of 5,000 companies applied for the honor.

The company displayed its “Wall of Heroes” at its Rochester locations to honor its employees, which consisted of a picture of the employees who had served. They also received a commemorative pin and thank-you note from the company for their service.

Criteria for the list include the strength of company recruiting efforts, the hiring of past service members, retention programs, and National Guard and Reserve service company policies.

“We are honored to be in the top tier of companies that embrace military service members, veterans and spouses as employees,” said Maggie Wilderotter, chairman and CEO of Frontier.

The company employs 1,361 employees in Rochester.
