IT company ePlus Inc.’s subsidiary, ePlus Technology Inc., has acquired Pittsford-based AdviStor Inc.’s assets.

The addition increases ePlus’ presence in the Upstate New York market. AdviStor, a data storage company, specializes in the commercial, educational and federal markets.

Details of the transaction were not released. The two firms employ 33 people in Rochester and 1,000 nationwide.

"The acquisition of AdviStor builds upon ePlus' position as the leading FlexPod reseller in the United States, and enhances our existing presence in the upstate region," said Phillip Norton, chairman, president and CEO of ePlus Inc., in a statement.

FlexPod is a converged computer, networking and storage system developed by Cisco Systems Inc., and NetApp Inc.

"We are providing a path for new and existing clients in Upstate New York to leverage ePlus' strengths and unique capabilities in conjunction with AdviStor's proven track record as a prominent value-added reseller and integrator with one of the leading storage practices in the market,” Norton said.

The acquisition is viewed as a way to benefit the customers of AdviStor as ePlus can provide integrated products and services from manufacturers such as Cisco, Net App and EMC Corp. to expand the company’s technological services in security, managing services and cloud computing, officials said.

"We are excited to join the capable team at ePlus," said Robert King, president of AdviStor, in a statement. "We are confident that both our customers and employees will benefit. … This joint expertise means greater access to proven implementation methodologies, an expanded portfolio of solutions and services and comprehensive engineering delivery capabilities."

The publicly traded ePlus Inc. is based in Herndon, Va.
