National championships coming to Monroe County

Two NCAA Division III national championships are coming to Monroe County in 2016, the men’s volleyball championship at Nazareth College of Rochester and men’s golf at Mendon Golf Club and Midvale Country Club, officials announced.

The Division III men’s volleyball championships are slated for April 22 to 24, 2016, officials with the Monroe County Sports Commission announced last week.
 
The men’s golf championships are May 10 to 13, 2016, officials said. The bid was made in conjunction with St. John Fisher College.

The area last played host to an NCAA golf championship in 1985 when California State University, Stanislaus, defeated the University of California at San Diego.
