Vnomics Corp.’s real-time fleet management system has been purchased by Con-way Inc.’s largest division, Con-way Freight, one of the nation’s largest top less-than-truckload companies.

The system was purchased to improve fuel economy, safety and operational efficiency for Con-way Freight’s more than 8,600 trucks. The company has 425 operating locations in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

“We are incredibly excited to be teaming with one of the largest and most respected trucking fleets in the industry,” said David Chauncey, CEO of Vnomics, in a statement.

Con-way Freight is integrating Vnomics technology into its fleet.

Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW) is a $5.5 billion freight transportation and logistics services company based in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Perinton-based Vnomics ranked No. 99 on the 2013 Rochester Top 100 list of fastest-growing private companies.
