Ziegler honored for ethics foundation efforts

A local businessman has been honored for his work in recognizing and encouraging ethical practices.

Alan Ziegler has been presented with the Being a Difference award by the NASBA Center for the Public Trust for his community involvement and work developing the Rochester Area Business Ethics Foundation. He was given the award at St. John Fisher College in an event sponsored by the foundation.

Ziegler is CEO of the financial firm Futures Funding Corp. In 2002 he volunteered to develop RABEF after seeing a need for local businesses to formally recognize and encourage ethical practices, Center for the Public Trust officials said.

In his nomination for the award, Ziegler was described as “the personification of making a difference in the community in terms of encouraging ethical business behavior.”

“We could not have picked a more fitting time or a better recipient for this award,” said Alfonzo Alexander, president of the Nashville, Tenn.,-based center. “Alan Ziegler founded the RABEF when he saw that someone needed to be a difference 13 years ago.

“Mr. Ziegler grew tired of hearing about challenges in business communities across the country and decided to make sure his community had an organization in place to fight against ethical mishaps in the business sector.”
