Dillard's suits to be made at Hickey Freeman

Dillard’s Inc.’s signature suits and sportcoats will be manufactured at Hickey Freeman in Rochester, officials announced Thursday.

Production of the company’s Daniel Cremieux Signature Collection line will be moved from Italy and add 10 percent more work at the North Clinton Street factory, Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., said.

The announcement comes a month after news Ralph Lauren Corp.’s new line of flagship brand Polo Ralph Lauren suits and sports jackets will be made at Hickey Freeman.

The two additions could add as many as 50 jobs, Schumer said.

“Once again, a major clothing company has chosen Rochester over Italy,” Schumer said.

Dillard’s annual sales exceed $6.5 billion, officials said. It has 284 stores and 18 clearance centers in 29 states.
