A ruling from the state Court of Appeals on whether the Lighthouse Pointe development in Irondequoit should be part of the Department of Environmental Conservation’s brownfield cleanup program is not expected until March, officials said Wednesday.
Representatives of Lighthouse Pointe Property Associates LLC and of the DEC made their cases to the court Tuesday in Albany.
Rochester attorney Alan Knauf, representing Lighthouse Pointe developers, said he is optimistic that the court will rule in favor of his client.
The proposal, pegged at $200 million to $250 million, involves mixed use development on 47 vacant acres near the shores of the Genesee River and Lake Ontario.
The development would result in $4 million to $5 million in property tax revenues annually, project leaders say.
Without financing from the DEC’s brownfield program, the cost to clean up the site would be $8 million, the development team says.
