Sydor Optics adds equipment to expand capabilities

Sydor Optics has completed the first half of its acquisition of $4 million worth of equipment, with the remaining half expected to be completed within the next six months.

The double-sided polishing and metrology equipment allows Sydor to increase its capabilities, company leaders said.

The manufacturer of flat glass optics said the equipment investment, coupled with Sydor’s investments in team development and process improvements, allows the firm to grow while handling customers’ increasing volume and size demands.

President James Sydor said the company’s products are used daily by customers in the defense, life science and entertainment industries, which are often changing their needs based on technological advancements.

“Although I think we’ve been lucky, we’d like to think it’s because we strive to be in step with our customers,” Sydor said in a statement.

Sydor employs roughly 63 workers.
