Blues has $1.2 million in unclaimed checks

Rochester Business Journal
April 24, 2012

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield is looking to connect $1.2 million in checks it wrote in 2008 to some 1,200 parties who failed to claim them.

The search is part of an annual exercise required by the state’s Department of Financial Services, which orders insurance carriers to once a year publish lists of checks that have remained unclaimed for at least three years. Any money not claimed by the end of this year goes into the state’s coffers.

A list of checks waiting to be claimed is available at www.excellusbcbs.com/forgottenfunds.
