James Spitz Jr., CEO at Harris Beach PLLC in Perinton, has been named to the board of directors of the Business Council of New York State Inc., officials announced Monday.

Spitz and David Golub, senior vice president of administration at the Golub Corp., were elected during the board’s July meeting. Golub Corp. is the Schenectady-based parent of the Price Chopper discount grocery chain.

“David and Jim both bring a multitude of experience to the board,” Business Council president and CEO Heather Briccetti said in a statement. “These two extraordinary individuals will be a great asset to the Business Council as we work to create good jobs, strong communities and a more business-friendly New York.”

Spitz is part of the educational institutions industry team and practices in the labor and employment law practice group at Harris Beach, focusing on employee relations and school districts.
