Monroe County posts unpaid tax list online

Rochester Business Journal
August 15, 2012

Monroe County has posted its 2012 list of unpaid property taxes on its website for the first time, with the county treasurer authorized to purchase tax sale certificates for the properties at a public auction Monday, county officials announced Wednesday.

The auction begins at 10 a.m. at the county treasury in the County Office Building at 39 W. Main St.

The certificates will result in the transfer of the tax liens as a legal interest in the property to the county, officials said. They do not include immediate transfer of the title to the property.

The county must wait one year before instituting legal proceedings if the tax lien is not paid.
