Carestream acquires Genesis Digital Imaging

Rochester Business Journal
November 1, 2012

Carestream Health Inc. has acquired Genesis Digital Imaging Inc., officials said Thursday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Based in Los Angeles, Genesis Digital Imaging sells pre-packaged imaging systems to medical equipment distributors. Its target markets are small hospitals, clinics and specialty practices.

The acquisition rounds out Carestream’s coverage of the U.S. market, company officials said.  Carestream’s direct sales force serves large hospitals and health care systems, while its purchase of Quantum division, created with the 2010 acquisition of Long Island-based Quantum Medical Imaging LLC, covers the midmarket. Genesis Digital gives the company greater coverage of the smaller-provider segment.

With the acquisition, Genesis Digital becomes a Carestream division. It is to remain based in Los Angeles with its current president, Scott Evers overseeing operations and assuming the title of Carestream vice president, U.S. and Canada Value Tier Channels.
