Democrats in the Monroe County Legislature have chosen 21st District representative Carrie Andrews as minority leader, party officials announced Wednesday.
Andrews, a legislator since 2005, replaces Ted O’Brien, who last week was elected to the state Senate.
Andrews represents the 21st District in northeast Rochester.
“I look forward to continuing to serve the families of our community by advocating for them in county government,” Andrews said in a statement. “At every opportunity, I will strive to reach consensus while ensuring critically important quality of life services, such as child care, are protected.”
Willie Joe Lightfoot, D-Rochester, was re-elected as an assistant minority leader. Cynthia Kaleh, D-Rochester, was elected as an assistant minority leader replacing Andrews.
