IEC receives $5.1 million defense order

IEC Electronics Corp. has received an order from one of its military customers worth roughly $5.1 million, the Newark, Wayne County, firm said Thursday.

Deliveries are expected to begin during IEC’s fiscal 2013 second quarter, which begins Dec. 31, and continue into fiscal 2014.

Barry Gilbert, chairman and CEO, said the customer is a top prime defense contractor. The contract award with IEC will allow the undisclosed firm to supply soldiers with ground support equipment.

IEC ranked 15th on the most recent Rochester Business Journal list of manufacturers with 592 workers.
