Rochester Mayor Thomas Richards has named an Athens, Ga. parking official as the city’s new parking bureau chief, city officials said Wednesday.
A 20-year veteran of municipal and private-sector parking administration, Laura Miller is slated to step into the Rochester post Jan. 22. She replaces interim parking bureau director Molly Clifford.
The city’s director of fire administration, Clifford also has run the city’s parking department since the resignation of former parking bureau director Susan Olley last July. Olley stepped down at the city’s request amid questions over the administration of a city-owned parking garage.
Miller’s “comprehensive knowledge in parking services administration-both on a municipal level and in the private sector-coupled with her skills and understanding of budget management, will duly complement the Bureau,” Deputy Mayor Leonard Redon said.
Prior to serving as director of parking for the Athens Downtown Development, Miller was a regional operations manager for Park 'N Fly Inc., in Atlanta. A graduate of Niagara University, she earned an MBA from SUNY Buffalo in 1995.
In addition to running city-owned parking facilities, the parking bureau director oversees the city’s on-street parking, parking-meter and parking-enforcement programs.
