Nazareth College puts dance festival on hiatus

Nazareth College of Rochester is putting its annual Dance Festival on a one-year hiatus while organizers look into the event’s timing and programming, college officials announced Friday.

The festival will make its return in May 2014 with a new design, Nazareth officials said. It will retain some successful elements of the original version, including main-stage performances, discussions with choreographers and dancers, and master classes.

By moving the festival to May, the college and arts center will be able to better serve students and faculty and support the growing dance program, Nazareth officials said. Its new timing also will allow continued participation by local and regional companies as part of the festival’s popular “Dancing on the Grass” free programs.
