New and used vehicle sales in Monroe County last year eclipsed 2011 numbers and reached their highest point in the last decade, the Rochester Automobile Dealers’ Association Inc. reported.
Some 64,584 new and used vehicles were sold in Monroe County last year, up more than 4 percent from 61,919 in 2011 and 54,791 in 2010. Dealers sold 40,976 new vehicles last year, compared with 39,251 in 2011. Some 23,608 used cars and trucks were sold in Monroe County last year, up from 22,668 in 2011.
In December, some 2,919 new cars and trucks were sold in Monroe County, down more than 7 percent from 3,156 in November and down roughly 2 percent from 2,989 a year ago. Used-car sales also were off in December. Area dealers sold 1,514 used vehicles last month, down more than 13 percent from 1,752 in November and off more than 8 percent from 1,648 a year ago.
Some 4,433 new and used vehicles were sold in Monroe County last month, down nearly 10 percent from 4,908 in November and roughly 4 percent from 4,637 in December 2011.
New-car sales typically increase from November to December, according to RADA historical data, while used-car sales generally decrease slightly or remain relatively flat.
