Rochester Community Coalition releases its 2013 agenda

A larger share of state Aid and Incentives for Municipalities for the city of Rochester and relief from the city’s contribution to the state pension plan tops a list of five priorities on the Rochester Community Coalition’s 2013 agenda released Friday.

The four other priorities are:

  • retaining local government control over job creation tools, including state sales tax exemptions granted by the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency;
  • revitalizing the human service sector by making non-profits more efficient;
  • bringing Rochester’s third-grade reading level in line with the average of New York’s other large cities; and
  • supporting priority projects in the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council’s strategic plan.

The local coalition is made up of government, business and education leaders.

“These leaders, representing diverse interests and views within our community, have come together to create this agenda for a greater Rochester,” said Sandra Parker, president and CEO of the Rochester Business Alliance Inc., in a statement.

“We urge state lawmakers and Gov. Cuomo to support the priorities outlined in the Rochester Community Agenda, which our coalition believes will promote job creation and strengthen our community.”
