Abundance Cooperative to expand, possibly relocate

Rochester Business Journal
March 6, 2013

Abundance Cooperative Market, a cooperatively owned natural products retailer grocer, is looking to expand in Rochester.

The company announced Wednesday that it has outgrown its 5,000 square-foot location on Marshall Street. Abundance Cooperative has hired commercial real estate development company Flaum Management Co. Inc. to help in the company’s expansion and possible relocation within the city of Rochester, officials said.

“We are limited in how we can serve our customers both by the size and location of our current store at 62 Marshall St.,” said Jim DeLuca, general manager of Abundance Cooperative, in a statement. “We are hoping to meet more of the needs of our shoppers and owners by really expanding our produce, deli, bakery and meat departments.”

Abundance Cooperative first was opened to the public in 2001. The market has more than 1,600 shareholder owners.
