Director of Monroe Community Hospital fired

The executive health director of Monroe Community Hospital, Todd Spring, has been fired following an independent, external review of hospital policies and procedures, County Executive Maggie Brooks announced Friday.

“The core mission of Monroe Community Hospital is to ensure the care, safety and general well-being of the over 550 residents it serves,” Brooks said in a statement. “That is a mission I expect all employees to uphold each and every day.

“As the result of the county’s own independent, external review, it is apparent that Mr. Spring did not live up to my standards for excellence in care at MCH and we have changed leadership accordingly.”

The hospital’s assistant administrator, Rosemary Provo, will serve as acting executive health director until further notice, the county said.

Spring had been executive director for nine years. He was named deputy director at MCH in 2000 and became acting administrator in 2003.

Spring received the 1999 Thomas Clarke Memorial Award from the New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging when he was chief operating officer at St. Ann's Community.
