Intrinsiq Materials Inc. will get $887,000 to help it develop and commercialize the use of copper in solar power cells, and will add 25 jobs as a result, officials announced Monday.

The grant comes from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.

“Intrinsiq Materials has developed ground-breaking technology in the field of electronic inks,” President and CEO Robert Cournoyer said.

“With the support of NYSERDA and all of the capabilities of the Rochester area, the potential to leverage the technology into critical and fast-growing applications such as solar cells has become extremely realizable.”

Intrinsiq Materials has a 7,000-square-foot facility in the Eastman Business Park. It employs eight.
