Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks has been elected second vice president of the New York State Association of Counties, officials announced Thursday.

Brooks was chosen by county delegates from across the state.

“It is an honor to serve New York’s counties through this important leadership post,” Brooks said in a statement released by her office. “During these difficult fiscal times, NYSAC has a proven record of offering practical solutions to our state’s biggest challenges.”

Brooks also has served as president of the New York State Association of County Executives and president of County Executives of America.

NYSAC has represented New York’s counties for 85 years.
