RazorSharks withdraw offer for Dome Arena

Attempts by the Rochester RazorSharks to buy the Dome Arena at the Fair and Expo Center in Henrietta have fallen through.

With RazorSharks majority owner Severko Hrywnak withdrawing his offer, the Dome Arena is back on the market, its ownership group said in a statement released Thursday.

Hrywnak submitted a bid in November 2012 to buy the arena and renovate it as the home court for his Premier Basketball League team.

He originally expected to take no more than eight weeks of due diligence to determine the cost of bringing the arena up to acceptable standards for the Razorsharks.

The arena’s owner, the Monroe County Fair and Recreation Association, announced in August 2012 that it was putting the facility up for sale.

The RazorSharks play their home games at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial but are looking for a less-expensive place to play.
