Recently retired Paychex Inc. executive Leonard Redon was appointed Wednesday as deputy mayor for the city of Rochester.
Redon, 59, was sworn in by Mayor Thomas Richards at 11:45 a.m. in the City Hall atrium.
“I am anxious to get to work with Mayor Richards and the outstanding group of individuals in his administration,” Redon said.
“I have been a longtime advocate for this city and this is a great opportunity for me to contribute in a new and different way toward the betterment and advancement of Rochester.”
Redon retired Jan. 30 from Paychex, where he was vice president of western operations. He was responsible for $600 million in operations and managed some 2,500 employees.
“Leonard Redon joining our team as deputy mayor is an outstanding addition to my administration, as he brings with him impressive credentials as a manager as well as a long record of community service,” Richards said.
Prior to joining Paychex in 2001, Redon spent 28 years at Eastman Kodak Co., leaving as vice president and director of Rochester-area operations.
Redon, a resident of Perinton, will move to the city, he said. His salary is $130,000, city officials said.
