Rochester food favorites LDR Char Pit Inc., Abbott’s Frozen Custard, Zweigle’s Inc. and Cornell chicken barbecue sauce will be on display at the New Orleans Roadfood Festival next weekend.
The fourth annual event is March 24 and 25 at New Orleans’ historic French Market. Rochester is the only northeast U.S. city represented at the festival, officials said.
“This is an exceptional opportunity to showcase Rochester food to a growing audience of food-loving travelers across the country,” Gregory Marshall, senior vice president at Greater Rochester Visitors Association Inc., said in a statement this week.
The visitors association welcomed representatives of festival organizer www.roadfood.com to Rochester in 2010, GRVA officials said. As a result, founder Stephen Rushmore decided to invite several vendors from the tour to participate in the festival.
The weekend festival will showcase 30 restaurants serving their specialty dishes.
