Xerox inks contract with state of Illinois

Xerox Corp. has landed a $42 million, five-year contract with the state of Illinois to provide electronic benefit transfer services.

The service will distribute benefits for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as food stamps, as well as cash assistance on a reloadable card, the company said. The card can be used for approved purchases at authorized retailers and at ATMs.

The Illinois contract has the option for a five-year renewal, the company said.

“We see firsthand the challenges states face,” said Nancy Collins, Xerox group president for state enterprise solutions, in a statement. “We’re able to take that knowledge, and design programs that fit the needs of states now and into the future.”
