Two local colleges have been honored as “Best Buy Schools” in the 2013 edition of “The Fiske Guide to Colleges.”
SUNY College at Geneseo was named to the list, as was Rochester Institute of Technology. The guide has an Index by Price that groups public and private institutions into four price categories, from inexpensive to very expensive. The guide also designates schools that have outstanding academics with moderate prices.
All of the schools in the “Best Buy” category have the combination of stellar academic records and prices that fall within either the inexpensive or moderately priced category, Fiske officials said.
“We are not surprised to see this latest recognition of the progress RIT has made in moving into the ranks of the nation’s finest colleges and universities,” said William Destler, RIT president. “We are especially pleased to see the quality of our programs in computers, engineering, and the fine arts endorsed by this respected guide to colleges and universities for prospective students.”
The list of “Best Buys” this year included 41 institutions—20 public and 21 private. SUNY Geneseo was one of three SUNY institutions included, joining Binghamton University and the University at Buffalo.
