Perry's Ice Cream to add staff in Rochester

Akron, Erie County-based Perry’s Ice Cream Co. Inc. plans to increase its regional employment by 30 people, adding jobs in Rochester, Buffalo, the Southern Tier and Syracuse.

The positions will support Perry's growing partner brand distribution business with Hanover, Pa.-based Utz Quality Foods Inc. in the areas of merchandising, route sales delivery and warehousing, Perry’s said. Perry's has been the distribution house for Utz since 2011. The partnership recently expanded to full product line distribution in grocery chain accounts across the region.

Perry’s plans to add eight positions in Rochester, company officials said.

"The Utz business has quickly reached 1 million dollars in sales and we expect a fivefold increase over the next year,” said Tim Cooley, Perry’s vice president, sales, marketing and distribution, in a statement. "The Perry's brand is growing both inside and outside our key markets and our contract manufacturing business has grown rapidly with customers looking for the premium and super premium ice cream products we produce."

Perry’s is a fourth-generation family business founded in 1932 by Morton Perry.
